• Complete one 911 Shift
    • During this shift, you can expect to ride with BLS and ALS providers as you respond to emergency 911 calls. As with all emergencies, these shifts will be unpredictable in terms of how busy they will be and what types of emergencies you will respond to.
  • Complete one IFT Shift
    • An IFT (interfacility transport) is when an ambulance takes a patient from one facility, like a hospital to another facility like a nursing home. Sometimes these are simple transfers that don't require much for medical interventions. Other times, these can be ALS transfers that require much more, with interventions like ventilators and IV pumps managed by a paramedic from one hospital to another with greater capabilities.
    • Some IFTs are scheduled and the crew knows about them ahead of time, other times these transfer come up emergently as a patient deteriorates and needs a more specialized facility.
